'About'                                                         sound and photos

After my previous project ‘Haringey’, inspired by the observation of my nearest neighbourhood in London, where I touched problems of identity, individuality, nationality and religious habits, in these series of colourful pictures I pho- tographed muslim women wearing their traditional suits, characteristic of their religion. Additionally I photographed myself wearing a black and white jacket, which by covering my face, has also hidden my identity and I edited all the photos with the muslim women in their

daily situations.

By confronting the relation between a multicultural city, such as Lon- don, and individuals which are still trying to keep and tend the po- tential of their tradition, culture and religion, which is changing the identity of a territory, I am emphasizing the possibilities of develop- ing new codes. ‘About’ is an extension of my previous project Harin- gey. My interest in society and identity passes onto an object, which

contains the stories of my subjects.

The subject in each photo look the same, wearing black and white jacket which hides their identity, physiognomy and leaves their hands just with the object. In the installation the viewer is encouraged to listen to them and imagine how their appearance could possibly be.
